Decorrerá, no dia 09 de Outubro, a primeira sessão do Ciclo de Conferências "DISPUTATIO - A Idade Média em Debate", com a conferência "Quão medieval é um edifício medieval? A DGEMN e a nova legibilidade da Arquitetura Românica" pela professora doutora Maria Leonor Botelho  (Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto).

Este ciclo de conferências pretende debater a Idade Média a partir de várias perspetivas. Nesta primeira sessão, tomasse como ponto de partida a arquitetura para problematizar as representações e imagens que hoje temos sobre este período.

Uma disputatio era um debate público convocado para discutir teses escolásticas e, colectivamente, alcançar e estabelecer a verdade nas Artes Liberais, no Direito e, sobretudo, na Teologia.

Neste sentido, esta iniciativa procura criar um espaço de discussão sobre a Idade Média a partir de várias perspectivas, organizando um ciclo de seminários cujo objectivo é o debate da própria Idade Média - das suas representações, do seu significado, da sua importância, dos seus conceitos. Desconstruir para colocar em perspectiva e ver mais claramente. Contestar preconceitos e estereótipos, para servir o propósito de fazer História séria, rigorosa, mas também acessível.

Maria Leonor Botelho is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Porto (Department of Heritage Studies). She is the Presidente of the Scientific Commission of the Master in History of Art, Heritage and Visual Culture at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Porto. She integrates the scientific comittee of the Digital Museum of University of Porto as the heritage management expertise. She is a member of the European Association for Urban History (EAUH). She is the author of many works, including “Oporto’s Historic Centre (WH) – from historical research to (real) Virtual Heritage Visualization” (book proposal submitted to Oxford University Press – approved) and collaborated in the scientific production of A Tourist’s Guide to World Heritage Sites in the North of Portugal. Porto. Guimarães. Douro Vinhateiro e Vale do Côa. (Turismo de Portugal and INCM, 2013 [3 volumes]). Maria Leonor Botelho has an executive member of the organizing committees of severeal scientific conferences related to the urban heritage: 1st International Conference "Porto as a Tourism Destination. City Tourism” (2013), International Conference “Lost and Transformed Cities: a digital perspective” (Lisboa, 2016) and V Criative Cities International Conference (Porto, 2017). She is one of the chairs of the Special Track “Digital Heritage and the Immersive City” approved to the 3rd Immersive Learning Research Network Conference (iLRN 2017) (June 26th - 29, 2017, Coimbra, Portugal). Maria Leonor Botelho has translated into Portuguese the London Charter fot the computer-based visualization of cultural heritage (http://www.londoncharter.org/). She has been one of the coordinators, curators and producers of the virtual exhibitions “Porto World Heritage” (2015) and “Sabrosa: Heritage and landscape” (2016) being published at Google Arts and Culture platform (https://www.google.com/culturalinstitute/beta/search?q=faculdade%20de%20letras%20&hl=fr) Her work focuses on heritage management, digital heritage, urban history and romanesque historiography.
