European Heritage Days 2010
Heritage: A Map of History

The European Heritage Days, an initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Union, held annually in September, with the primary aim to raise awareness of the importance of protecting and promoting the heritage.
In Portugal, the European Heritage Days will be held this year on 24, 25 and September 26. The IGESPAR, national coordinator of the event, launched the theme "Heritage: A MAP OF HISTORY," aims at highlighting the close relationship between heritage sites and historical events which they are associated.
The Heritage, in its various manifestations, documents a space-time path societies; travel through the cities, tour the country looking traces, interpreting the urban settings and rural areas of historical and political facts, the humanization of landscapes production of technical and scientific, literary or artistic, it's like to have, in hand, an inexhaustible map that helps us understand where we came from and where we choose to follow.
The IGESPAR invites the public and private entities to join this initiative by organizing and implement actions and activities that encourage physical and emotional approach to public monuments, ensembles and sites, encouraging him to learn and explore, in sheets, the map of history.

- street entertainment, historical re-creations and performances
- workshops, lectures, conferences, debates and seminars;
- marathons photo
- sessions reading - heritage routes, cultural routes, and rally peddy-papers
- and entertaining workshops teaching workshops
- traditional games, vintage games and discovery
- fairs and festivals
- launching publications
- documentaries, movies
The proposed activities should be sent until September of next July.
