Emile Jaques Dalcroze (1895-1950) developed some concepts and practices which brought the notion of rhythm to a different amplitude and centrality. It was in the interception of different subjects that he sought and grounded, both practical and theoretical, his concepts.

Dalcroze influenced, significantly and in different artistic forms, a multitude of artists and pedagogues which, one way or another, defined during the 20th century, new paths in the arts. In music, Frank Martin and Juan Llongueres, in theatre Adolphe Appia and Jersy Grotowski and in Dance, Isadora Duncan,  and Nyginsky, Martha Graham were, among others, those who took the most inspiration from his works.

In the field of arts teaching, the Dalcroze method is used not just in music, but also in dance, theatre, visual arts and performance arts.
