Masks-Objects Workshop with António Jorge
Évora, Working Space of the Festival Escrita na Paisagem
Workshop de Máscaras – Objectos [Masks-Objects Workshop], directed by António Jorge will take place between March 14th-19th, at the working space of the Festival Escrita na Paisagem, from 20h30 to 23h30. The workshop focuses on the aesthetic and work practices of António Jorge and it is open to artists and performers (from theatre, dance, puppetry, objects manipulation and other artistic fields), as well as to performing arts students. This is a privileged opportunity to contact with a very unique creative process and approach to the work with masks and objects manipulation. During the past eleven years, António Jorge has been developing experiments in the creation/construction of masks and other objects. He has a collection of more than one thousand masks, created from various materials such as raffia, paper, wood dough, and others, which he works by using rudimentary techniques.

On António Jorge
Originary from Coimbra, city where he was born and currently lives, he started his theatre career in 1987, at Teatro de Estudantes de Coimbra (TEUC). He is an actor and director. He is a founding member of Coimbra’s theatre company “A Escola da Noite”, where, between 1992 and 2010, he developed work in acting, set and objects design, teaching, among other areas. Since 2003, he takes part in the cultural organization Cena Lusófona – Associação para o Intercâmbio Teatral. At the moment he develops work and an independent artist.
